Tamim Yachdav. Kabbalah by Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Lublin, one of the Gr"a's Disciples. Vilna, 1808

Sefer Tamim Yachdav - essays by Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai on Sefer HaZohar arranged according to the weekly Torah portions, by Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Lublin, disciple of the Gr"a. Vilna, 1808. First edition. Uncommon sefer.

Rabbi Avraham ben HaGr"a arranged the sefer, and expanded the work with his father's glosses on the Zohar in several places, in his words: 'Transcribed with glosses by my father, the gaon, ztzllh"h.'

Rabbi Avraham ben HaGr"a wrote about the author, who passed away before the sefer was printed: "Friends and acquaintances of the great and expert Rabbi Menachem Mendel z"l, expert in all realms of Torah, of Dusyat and Ponovezh ..."

Over the generations, there was no unawareness of the connection between the author and the Gr"a's son. However, it was recently discovered that this author was the Gr"a's disciple! As was written about him: "Who studied under Rabbi Eliyahu. He was a primary disciple of the true gaon, the pious Rabbi Eliyahu of Vilna. It was also noted that after the Gr"a's passing, people were concerned about eulogizing him lest they not express all of his virtues, but Rabbi Menachem Mendel eulogized him bitterly.

The author also wrote: "He was most sharp, an expert in the chambers of Torah ... righteous in his contributions, sanctity and asceticism." [Refer to A. Katzman, 'LeDemut Hg"r Menachem Mendel Talmid HaGr"a, ' Yeshurun Torah anthology, [4], 1999 p. 365 onward].
