Safra D'Tzniyuta im Biur HaGr"a. First Edition. With the Gr"a's Shevuah

Safra D'Tzniyuta im Biur HaGr"a. Vilna-Horodna 1820. First edition. Beautiful edition with wide margins. On the title page: "Basic foundation for the entire Zohar HaKadosh" with "an extensive elucidation on each and every ma'amar and almost each and every word ... prepared and researched by Gaon Uzeinu, Nezer Yisrael,  the sacred true gaon, rabbi of the entire Diaspora, Rabbi Eliyahu of Vilna.

The sefer opens with the famous and lengthy foreword by Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin. This introduction is the most important source for the great sanctity of the Gr"a and his method of Kabbalah study. This sefer was edited by Rabbi Ya'akov Moshe of Slonim, son of Rabbi Avraham son of the Gr"a. It bears an approbation by Vilna rabbis in which they write that only he is allowed to publish the Gr"a's works. The Rada"l praises the arrangement of the sefer, writing: "This work is the only one worthy of praise. It came out arranged exactly and proofread precisely, with the compilations properly arranged in their appropriate places."

The Gr"a writes on page 57b about the 6000 years of the world's existence paralleling the six weekdays, and he elucidates. He adds: from here you know the end (of days), the redemption that will come when we do not merit it, as it is the final end,  and I swear the reader, by Hashem, G-d of Israel, not to reveal this.

This copy features Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin's introduction before that of the publisher Rabbi Ya'akov Moshe Slonim, similar to the variant listed in Mif'al HaBibliographiah HaIvri (no. 177999) and in Otzar Sifrei HaGr"a 696.

Vinograd,  Sifrei HaGr"a 696. Stefansky,  Sifrei Yessod 334.

[6], 59, [3] leaf. 20.5 cm.

Very fine condition. Wide margins. Magnificent leather binding.
