First Editions: Group of [3] Sefarim by the G-dly Kabbalist Rabbi Emmanuel Chai Ricci

Important group of [3] sefarim by the renowned Kabbalist Rabbi Emmanuel Chai Ricci, author of Mishnat Chassidim, in whose Jerusalem home the Ohr HaChaim HaKadosh established his yeshivah. First editions. Amsterdam-Livorno, 1727-1742.

* Sefer Aderet Eliyahu by the renowned Kabbalist Rabbi Emmanuel Chai Ricci. Livorno, Meldola Press. 1742. First edition. Including the rare leaf. Signatures.

The sefer includes two parts with separate title pages. Part I: in-depth halachic studies on all foreign topics and words in Sha"s. Part II: Mei Niddah responsa with anecdotal wisdom and more.

This is the final sefer published by Rabbi Emmanuel Chai Ricci, just a few months before he was murdered by highway robbers in Bologna on 1 Adar, 1743.

129: 57, [1] leaf. 21.5 cm. With the leaf bearing the author's family emblem - that of the Ricci family. This leaf is not found in all copies. High-quality paper. Owner's signature on the title page.

Fine condition. Aging stains. Worming perforations. New binding.

* Hon Ashir. Commentary and insights on Shishah Sidrei Mishnah by Kabbalist Rabbi Emmanuel Chai Ricci. Amsterdam, 1731. First edition.

With Kabbalistic commentaries as well. Songs between tractates and sedarim, and in the final two leaves. One of the songs about "Shabbat, Milah and Tefillin with kavanah" has musical notes included. One of the first Hebrew books with musical notes added. With many diagrams in the commentary.

Chassidic significance: The sefer includes musical notes the Admo"r Mahara"sh of Lubavitch used to compose "L'Chatchilah Ariber."

Approximately 15 years before this sefer was printed, the author had wanted to print it in Venice, under a completely different name, quite the opposite - Dikdukei Aniyut - but this did not materialize. The author describes the interesting reason for this in his preface.

[2], 168, [2] leaf. 20.5 cm.

Moderate-fine condition. Aging stains. Minimal worming perforations. Restored tears in the title page with some damage to the text. Restored tears in the margins of a few additional leaves, with slight damage to the text. Beautiful new semi-leather binding.

* Choshev Machshavot by Kabbalist Rabbi Emmanuel Chai Ricci. Amsterdam, 1727. First edition. Incomplete volume. Uncommon to find complete.

Part I: Taharah U'Kedushah; "Ma'amar Mikveh Taharah" on mikveh measurements.

Part II: Kolot Mayim - elucidations and insights "on pesukim in Tana"ch in biblical order.

Part III: Me'orei Esh - elucidations and insights "on the Oral Torah ... on midrashim and scattered topics."

This essay "Tefillin D'Marei Alma" was originally published in this sefer, about the prohibition of laying tefillin on chol hamoed. [For the background to writing this article, refer to: M. Vilensky, "L'Tolodotav shel Rephael Emmanuel Chai Ricci, " Kiryat Sefer, vol. 25, 1949, pp. 311-314].

Present here: 4-78 leaf, 17 cm. Lacking the title page, the first leaves, and the correction leaves at the end.

Moderate-fine condition. Minimal worming tunnels. Tears in the margins of several individual leaves, restored with damage to the text. Beautiful new semi-leather binding.
