First Edition of Biur HaGr"a al Shulchan Aruch Yoreh Deah. Beautiful Condition.

Ashlei Ravrevei - Shulchan Aruch Yoreh Deah, with Be'er HaGolah and with Biur HaGr'a. Horodna, 1806. First edition of Biur HaGr"a al Shulchan Aruch Yoreh Deah, written by the Gr"a himself. This is the Gr"a's most important halachic work.

On the title page: "Brought to print by his sons ... Rabbi ... Yehudah Leib ... Rabbi Avraham, and by order of and published by his disciple, the great rabbi, the chacham, sharp and expert, famous for his Torah and fear of Heaven, Rabbi Menachem Mendel ... and his partners, the community leaders of Horodna." The  sefer was brought to print by the Gr"a's sons, Rabbi Yehudah Leib and Rabbi Avraham, with a lengthy foreword from them. Another lengthy and interesting foreword appears from Menachem Mendel of Shklov, the Gr"a's renowned disciple, who was involved in editing the  sefer. [Regarding printing this work, refer to A. Shisha, Yeshurun Vol. V, pp. 684-686.]

Biur HaGr"a al Shulchan Aruch is considered the final word on the poskim and their commentaries, collected in the four parts of Shulchan Aruch. The Gr"a completes this period, shaping its image and establishing the basis of halachah for generations. The author of Chazon I"sh writes about him (Kovetz Iggerot Part I, siman 32): "We relate to the Gr"a in line with Moshe Rabbeinu, Ezra HaSofer, Rabbi Yehudah HaNasi, Rav Ashi, the Ramba"m and the Gr"a, by whom Torah was revealed ... He is considered as one of the Rishonim, therefore he firmly disagrees with them in several places. He has Divine inspiration, in his piety and the depth of his understanding, toil and expertise, the depth of his study of all the Torah available to us in our days. It is impossible to describe this ... as such, it is just as impossible to be surprised when he disputes the Shulchan Aruch." [Refer to the article 'HaShulchan Aruch V'HaGr"a' by Bezalel Landau, Machanayim 97 1965, pp 40-46.]
