Historic: The Kedushat Tziyon's Pre-Holocaust 'Iggeret HaKodesh'
Sacred and awesome
"'Iggeret HaKodesh' from the Admo"r of Bobov shlit"a [ztzuk"l] [the Rebbe Rabbi Ben Tziyon Halberstam, author of Kedushat Tziyon]." Rare first edition printed in the Kedushat Tziyon's lifetime. Kraków, 1939. Especially rare booklet, particularly with the jacket cover.
Heart-wrenching letter of encouragement from the eve of the Holocaust by the Admo"r, the Kedushat Tziyon of Bobov, from the depths of his pure heart, addressed to his Chassidim. The letter opens: "My heart senses these times, how necessary it is to speak to the hearts of our brethren presently steeped in sorrow due to the horrible persecution of the Jewish people ..." In his letter, the Rebbe explains the terrible events that are happening to the Jews and how one should conduct himself during such times. Two years later, the Rebbe was killed in front of his followers. Some Jews who managed to escape said that the Rebbe told them before his passing: "Why hide? Is there anything that can be hidden from the birth pangs of Moshiach"?"
This booklet was printed by the administration of the Etz Chaim yeshivah in Kraków. (The Admo"r of Bobov was known to have established the network of Etz Chaim yeshivahs across Galicia.) After the Holocaust, this letter was reprinted in the Landsberg DP camp (Germany).
