Important and Rare Letter, with the Addition of [4] words Handwritten and Signed by the Lubavitcher Rebbe in English

"With blessing, M. Schneerson"

Important and rare Chassidic letter in English from the Admo"r Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson - the seventh and final leader of the Chaba"d dynasty. The letter was sent in the auspicious period preceding Shavuot and the eve of the yahrtzeit of the progenitor of Chassidism, the light of the seven seas, the Besh"t, all of which are addressed in this letter from the Rebbe. Brooklyn, New York, 20 Iyyar, 1960.

The letter is addressed to Rabbi Dr. Leo Jung, respected thinker and architect of Orthodox Judaism in the United States. The Rebbe, who knew how to speak to everyone on his own level, addressed the scholarly Dr. Jung in his academic language and at his level, about topics that suited him. In the margins of his letter, the Rebbe comments to Dr. Jung about specific subjects in his book, Noam, which he had sent to the Rebbe. The Rebbe even recommends several editorial changes to the sefer.

Unlike most Chaba"d texts in English, published as translations of the Rebbe's words, the letters the Rebbe wrote in English were in the actual sacred words of the Rebbe himself. The uniqueness of these letters expresses itself in the special wording used in them, in English, in which the Rebbe was "forced" to use first-person language and relate to himself in a more direct manner, which is very rare in sacred letters in Yiddish and Hebrew.

Even the Rebbe's relatively rare English-language signature has a segulah dimension [its rarity reflects the degree of its segulah], especially when accompanied by the names of the progenitor of Chassidism, the light of the seven seas, the Besh"t, and that of the Rebbe's father-in-law and teacher - the Admo"r the Rayya"tz ...

Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for brief biographies of the Admo"r Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson and of the addressee, Rabbi Dr. Leo Jung.
