Discovery: Tze'enah U'Re'enah, Shapira Press, Zhitomir, 1867 - One of the Very Last Sefarim Printed at the Shapira Press

Tze'enah U'Re'enah - Chamishah Chumshei Torah in Yiddish translation, including the haftarot and the chamesh meggilot. Zhitomir, Shapira Partners Press - Rabbi Chanina Lipa and Rabbi Yehoshua Heschel, grandsons of the rabbi of Slavuta, 1867. Uncommon edition; to the best of our knowledge, it has never been offered at auction. Beautiful, complete edition. Original leather binding with a beautiful imprint characteristic of Zhitomir bindings.

This edition is not listed by Mif'al HaBibliographiah and is not found at the National Library. It should be noted that although there are additional rare or unlisted editions from the Shapira Press, this one here is unique in that it is one of the last sefarim to be printed at the Shapira press. Mif'al HaBibliographiah lists just one sefer printed that year.

Tze'enah U'Re'enah is one of the most important sefarim written primarily for Jewish women. Due to its being a popular and practical sefer, it is very rare to find such beautiful and complete copies.

222 leaf, Approximately 25.5 cm. Thin paper characteristic of Zhitomir presses.

Very fine condition. Minimal stains. The binding boards are made of embossed leather; the spine is new. Stickers for reinforcement in the margins of the bindings.
