Especially Rare: Chassidic Siddur with the Bodzás-Chernover Rebbe's Conduct, 1838

Sefer Tefillah K'Minhag Sepharad Part II - for the festivals (including the Passover Haggadah), with Tikkunei Shabbat by Rabbi Moshe of Zaloshin, Derech HaChayim by Rabbi Ya'akov of Lissa, and a commentary from Siddur HaAvodah. Chernowitz, 1838. Especially rare edition. Includes the leaves lacking in most of the known copies.

Two leaves at the end of the siddur with conduct of the sacred gaon Rabbi Avraham David, av beit din of Bodzás included in the siddur by his order, "so that his wellsprings spread further for the benefit of the masses." A short azaharah by him appears at the end of these (unsigned) about the prohibitions of encroaching on the printers.

With novellae on the Passover haggadah by Rabbi Shaul, av beit din of Amsterdam; Rabbi Nattan Shapira, author of Megaleh Amukot, "In the name of the gaon hador, the av beit din of Tornipol" (this is apparently referring to Rabbi Yehoshua Heschel Baba"d, grandfather of the 'Minchat Chinuch') and Rabbi Ya'akov Orenstein, author of Yeshuot Ya'akov.

Mif'al HaBibliographiah lists this edition according to a copy lacking the last two leaves, those with the Rebbe's conduct. Y. Yosef Cohen, in his list "HaDefus HaIvri B'Chernowitz, " (Areshet III, pp, 290, no. 8) also lists a copy lacking the last two leaves (possibly the same copy listed above). The National Library has two copies, one lacks several leaves, including the last two leaves. To the best of our examination, this part here has never appeared at auction. Part I appeared at auction once, several years ago.

There is another edition printed in Chernowitz three years earlier, in 1835, however, according to Mif'al HaBibliographiah, this edition is edited differently and has other differences, including elucidations on the prayers in the siddur Seder Avodah U'Moreh Derech (Slavuta, 1781).

Part I (not present here) bears an approbation from Rabbi Ya'akov Orenstein, given to the 1838 edition. It also has the approbation from Rabbi Akiva Eiger given for the siddur Tikkunei Shabbat by Rabbi Moshe of Zaloshin (Warsaw, 1827).

Not listed in Stefansky's Chassidut.
