Micrograph Print. Levi van Gelder. [Mid-19th Century]
Impressive and very detailed print combining biblical illustrations, biblical texts and high holiday prayers written in beautiful micrographic print (Dutch and Hebrew).
Due to the artist's association with the Freemasons, most of his works have elements related to this movement. This print has the Freemason's symbol in one of the upper medallions - "The Eye of Providence."
Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of Levi David van Gelder.
[1] leaf paper. 39x47 cm. Placed in a frame with a passe-partout.
Fine condition. Peels and tears (some professionally restored, in the illustrations and in the text). Stains.
