CROOKES WILLIAM: (1832-1919) English Chemist & Physicist, a pioneer of vacuum tubes and inventor of the Crookes tube. T.L.S., William Crookes, one page, 8vo, Kensington Park Gardens, London, 22nd July 1890, to M. L. Olivier in Paris. Crookes responds to his correspondent's enquiry and writes 'I am not able to tell you the exact days on which the Physical and Chemical Societies meet after the vacation, but they will be quite early in November. The last meetings of the session was, Chemical Society June 19th, Physical Society June 20th'. With a couple of ink and pencil annotations to the head of the page. VG
