An English tortoise shell jewellery box - 19th Century
metal mounted tortoise shell and elephant ivory (Loxodonta africana Blumenbach, 1797 or Elephas maximus Linnaeus, 1758) inlay Victorian jewellery box. The rectangular top features metal applications depicting sirens and enclose a velvet lined compartment. Original locks. Dimensions 20.5 x 12.5 x 8.5 cm. Weight 888 gr. Item condition grading: **** good (defects, broken and worn-out parts). Ce.S.Ar. Certificate of antiquity (pre-1947).
