Egypt/Syria: Union Order of the United Arab Republic, 1958-1961 (without ribbon); weight: 22.55g. Obverse legened "United Arab Republic | We will protect it" with image of map of the Arab world encompassing Egypt and Syria; reverse legend: "Anniversary of the establishment of the United Arab Republic | 13th Rajb 1377 - 1st February 1958". The medal was instituted on 16 Feb. 1958 to commemorate the creation of the UAR (1958-61) comprised of Egypt and Syria, and was awarded to all members of the armed forces who were serving on 1 February 1958, as well as to selected civilians.
