Speech by the King of Jordan to the US Congress in Washington - July 1994 - Signed by the King and Queen of Jordan
Address to The Joint Session of Congress, His Majesty King Hussein I of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Washington D.C., July.
A printed copy of the Jordanian King's speech to the US Congress, near the signing of the "Washington Agreement". The title page features the signatures of Hussein, King of Jordan, and Queen Nur.
In July 1994, at the initiative of US President Bill Clinton, and after a period of negotiations between Israel and Jordan, the King of Jordan and the Prime Minister of Israel, Yitzhak Rabin, met in Washington. At the end of this meeting, a "Washington Agreement" was signed in which the two leaders declared an end to the state of war between Israel and Jordan. This agreement served as the basis for the peace agreement between Israel and Jordan, signed that year.
