HEINZ GREINER
(1895 - 1977) Wehrmacht general and recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves. Greiner commanded the 362nd Infantry Division on the Italian front, where heavy losses inspired the following widely-spread verse: 'The division of Greiner / Gets chopped ever finer / Until roll call's a one liner / That simply says: Greiner'. S.P., 4 x 6 in. b/w, a photo postcard showing the general in a chest-up view, prominently wearing his Knight's Cross. Greiner signs at bottom-right in black ink. Fine.
