(1758 - 1831) Fifth President of the United States who negotiated the Louisiana Purchase and promulgated the Monroe Doctrine. Partly-printed D.S. as President, 1p. oblong folio, Washington, Sept. 3, 1824, a land grant to 'John Leckey of Kentucky...' for a section of land within the district of Cincinnati. Paper seal affixed to bottom-left. Monroe signs at bottom-right. Cosigned by then- Commissioner of the General Land Office GEORGE GRAHAM (1772 - 1830), who also served as acting United States Secretary of War under the Madison and Monroe administrations. Folds, light staining, else fine. Sold with an A.L.S. from a 'C.B. Thompkins' of McConnellsville, OH, to an attorney 'J. J. Brasic' from Lancaster, PA on March 1, 1842, which was included with the document upon its delivery to us, though its connection to the document is uncertain.
