MARY HARRISON
(1858 - 1948) Second wife of Benjamin Harrison, the niece of his first wife and nearly 25 years his junior. A.L.S. 'Mary Lord Harrison', 3pp. 8vo., Nov. 5, 1929, sending her autograph to a young collector, Davy Davenport-West, adding: 'thank you for wanting mine...I am sure you will be glad to have my husband's Benjamin Harrison. He loved children and they loved him...'. Large signature. Mailing fold, two non-intrusive spots of staining, else very good. Sold with a hand-addressed transmittal envelope, cancelled Nov. 5, 1929, bearing her franking signature at top-right, though damage from opening removes much of her surname.
