HARRY S. TRUMAN
(1884 - 1972) 33rd President of the United States who led the country in the closing days of World War II and through the rebuilding of Europe under the Marshall Plan and the Korean War. Good association T.L.S. on his personal letterhead, 1p. 4to., Independence, MO, May 27, 1960, forwarding a photograph. In part: 'In reply to your letter…addressed to Senator Symington, it is a pleasure to send you the photograph for your friend [not present]…his wanting it is quite a compliment'. WILLIAM SYMINGTON (1901-1988) served as the first Secretary of the Air Force under Truman from 1947 to 1950 and later served as a Senator of Missouri from 1950 to 1976. Light folds, mounting remnants to the corners of the verso, else very good.
