JOSEPH KENNEDY, SR. (1888 – 1969) American businessman, investor and politician known for his high-profile positions in government and for the political and other achievements of his children. Father of assassinated President John F. Kennedy and Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy. Pair of items from a dinner held by 'The Pilgrims' in honor of Kennedy's appointment to serve as United States Ambassador to Great Britain, held at Claridge's Hotel, London, Mar. 18, 1938. Sponsors of the event included Lord Halifax and the Duke of Kent. Present is the 4pp. 8vo. menu, and the 26pp. table plan and guest list. Also attending was the future president, listed as 'Jack Kennedy' and a host of ministers, ambassadors, and military men. Covers foxed, else very good.
